Playing with mediums

Hey, it's me again with a tutorial for you using products available at Scrapbook Divas.  I promised I'd showcase how I use my Derivan Gel Medium.
Here's my finished layout...

I used a double masking technique on this layout, first making a triangle shape with some scrap paper, then applying the Gel Medium with an old credit card through a template.  I also used some texture paste to give a different textural finish, but you could use Derivan Impasto or Derivan Gesso in the same manner.

Spray a variety of mists over your page (I still left my triangle masks on at this stage).  Michelle has a great range of Glimmer Mist available here.
Attach triangles of paper and then trim any excess that is overlapping the edge of your base sheet.

Tim Holtz Distress Inks stay wet longer and blend beautifully.  I use either a dauber (as pictured) or a makeup sponge.
I highlighted the raised edges of the texture paste with some ink.

 I even did my journalling!

Look at all that gorgeous shimmer.

Hope you've enjoyed this tutorial.  Now get out there and have a play with some Mediums!
Happy scrapping,
Tina

Pinwheels are fun!

Hi, I'm back with a layout for Scrapbook Divas using the Basic Grey 'Paper Cottage' range.  I used "Afgan" for the base, with strips of "Vegetable Garden" and "Domestic", which I also used for the pinwheels and bunting.  You can find the buttons here, "Felt stickers and Trim" here, and Washi Tape here.

Have you ever made a pinwheel?  They are very easy and fun to make.ust  Just cut a square, snip from each corner towards the centre, bend the right hand side of that corner to the centre, and repeat with the other corners.  Secure with a brad.  Too easy!
And another layout ...

My layout uses Authentic Lively "Chipper" as the base,  both sides of Vivacious, with a strip of  Vibrant cut along the chevron shape.

I created a feather from old bookpaper, and embellished it with Prima flowers

I added an  Authentique Detail Sticker and journalled the few details that I know about this photo.

Thanks for looking, hope I've inspired you to go create something.
Hugs,
Tina

Playing with Gel Medium and Basic Grey

Hi, I've been creating another layout for Srapbook Diva's using Basic Grey "Paper Cottage" papers, buttons, element stickers, felt stickers and trim, and alpha stickers.

I used Derivan Gel Medium over a Crafter's Workshop template and then rubbed some Perfect Pearls across  it once it had almost dried.  Gel Medium is one of my favorite products and I'll be showcasing it in a couple of layouts over the next few weeks.

Other exciting news for today is that the Craft and Quilt Fair is on in Brisbane at the Convention Centre, and some of my creations are on display at the Twiddleybitz stand.  If your going make sure you check it out.  Twiddleybitz always has the most amazing display (I really am honored and humbled to be a Guest Designer for them), plus lots of great show specials.

Happy scrapping,
Tina

Getting Lively with Authentique

Hi, I wanted to share one of my creations for Scrapbook Divas.
My layout today features paper from the Lively range by Authentique.  I sprayed, and splattered my background cardstock with some mists to add colour and shimmer.   Michelle has a lovely range available in the store here.  I also used them to colour my doiley.

The Washi tape I've used is Sawyers Place Bianca Floral and Sawyers Place Pink Dots.  I've stamped along some of the Pink Dots tape using Stazon Ink and a music note stamp to create another pattern.  I've also used the Washi tape to journal on.  Just make sure you use a permanent pen like a Sharpie, as the Washi tape has a slightly waxy finish.

I used Authentique "Lively" stickers and Prima flowers to embellish my page.
The paper is Authentique Lively "Chipper", and is a gorgeous heavyweight paper with a slight texture.
Hope this has inspired you to create something.
Happy scrapping,
Tina

Designing for Scrapbook Divas.

Hi there,
I thought I'd share one of my latest layouts using some of the gorgeous products available from Scrapbook Divas.

First up a little tutorial to show you how to make fringed flowers.
Cut a strip of patterned paper (1 inch x 12 inch is ideal). The wider your strip of paper the larger your flower will be.  Cut small snips all along the length, I used shredding scissors, but do not cut all the way through.
Roll  the paper with a quilling tool or tweezers.  Glue onto a small circle of paper, and allow to dry.
Flatten the fringed pieces outwards, and embellish the centre as required.  You can even join two different strips together to create a two-toned flower.
And here's my layout...
Notice how the doiley pattern flows across both different papers?  Pretty cool hey? I used "Fine China" and "Hibiscua Tea" from the Basic Grey Cottage Tea collection.

I used Basic Grey Cottage Tea Alpha Stickers for my title.

I'm going to show you a little trick to make squaring up frames easier....
Apply your double sided tape with a long strip along each side of your frame.
Only expose a small amount of the adhesive on each corner.   Do NOT pull all the backing tape off.
You will now be able to easily maneuver the frame without it sticking too much.  When you are happy with its position, press the adhesive in the corner, then slowly pull your "tab" to expose the remainder of the D/S tape.  Press down to ensure good adhesion.
Thanks for looking,  I'll be back tomorrow with another layout for you.

Playing with Prima

Wow, I can't believe I haven't posted here in ages.  I've been crazy busy and have lots of exciting news.
My girls have competed at a few dance Eisteddfods and have another next weekend.  Then they'll start rehearsing for their end of year concert.  I even danced in the "(Im)Mature & Motivated" section at one of the comps, and we came 3rd.
We hosted a birthday party for 8 tweenies and 6 teenagers last week, and had a blast with the photobooth I set up!  Now have lots of cute and funny photos to scrap!
I have some really cool news....I was offered a Guest Design Team position for Twiddleybitz.  They make gorgeous chipboard, templates, and acrylic embellishments.  (More about that later in the week).
I have also joined the Design Team at Scrapbook Divas and will be showing you some of my projects for them over the coming weeks.
Today I have a few sneak peaks of the online classes I've done at Scrapping Outback.  There will be instructions for three layouts using papers from the Prima Rondelle collection.

My first layout...

The second layout...

And my third layout...

(I used dark mists that suited my photos, but you could easily use lighter colours and make it soft and feminine)
You can purchase the kit here for only $23.45 (great value for three layouts with instructions).  I did use a few extras....some paint, mists, a paper doiley,  "Bird Flourish"chipboard and "Chicken wire" chipboard.  You could just as easily use some chipboard from your stash.
