Teaching today

Hi everyone, Just a quick post today as I'm off to teach class. But I do have some layouts for you.

As you can see some are nice and simple.....depends on what sort of mood I'm in.

I love how this turned out, the paper was just perfect for the photo.

Gladwrap and h2o's technique tutorial

This is a fun and easy technique which gives fabulous results. I've used it on quite a few of my layouts and I thought I'd share it with you.

You'll need enough Gladwrap/clingwrap to cover your paper when its wrinkled up (approx one and a half times the width), a water spritzer, and a selection of Twinkling H2O's in a variety of colours. Please note, you can substitute the Twinkling h2o's with Radiant Rain daubers, or any type of water-based paint with a shimmer in it. The H2o's/paint should be a a runny consistancy. Splatter a few large drops of each colour onto your paper. Spritz with some water to increase spreadability. Lay the Gladwrap over your paper, and squish it so you create wrinkles in the Gladwrap. Make sure you do have lots of wrinlkes as this creates the cool concentrations of glimmer when its dry. At this point you can add more paint if necessary to cover the paper, or leave 'white' space if you like. Set aside to dry for a few hours. Press flat under something heavy if necessary.

Have fun and experiment using different coloured/textured cardstock to get different effects. I've also used this technique on my "Slip & Slide" layout posted on the 3rd of March,2010.
Let me know if you found this helpful.

Canvases

I finally got around to uploading the pics of the canvases I made as gifts for Christmas.
I used Fantasy Film, Impasto, Crystalina, beads, chipboard, paint, & Perfect Pearls on these.

Don't drink V after midnight!

Well I think I learned my lesson.....I was up scrapping at Lisa's last night, doing well, getting 4 pages finished and experimenting a little,...anyway she gives me a huge "mansize" V at around midnight, needless to say we scrapped till after 3am. That wasn't the problem, it was when I got home .....I was absolutely sooooooo wide awake! Think I laid in bed awake for a good few hours before eventually falling asleep. We were having so much fun playing with the new laser-cut mirrored acrylic pieces. They are to-die-for! Sorry, I haven't taken any photos yet to show you. All this rain makes it hard to take pics outside (and I hate taking them under the flouro lights)

I used the "make your own flourishes" technique, as you can see the acetate is only visible close up, once behind a plastic sheet protector you don't see it at all.

I used the "Gladwrap and h2o's" technique to create the background paper on this layout.

Rainy days = more scrapping time!

Gotta love the rain, despite the fact that its flooding and I can't work in my 'real' job doing car detailing. I got to hang out with Lisa at the shop, and get some layouts done.

This layout will be taught as a class at Greenbank Scrapbook shop next Tuesday at 9:30am

I was playing with the Tim Holtz masks and Distress inks on this layout, super easy and I love the effect.

Another experiment, this time colouring my transparency with alcohol inks.

Gotta love the Radiant Rains daubers from Luminart, they transformed a boring sheet of plain white cardstock to something bright and funky.
Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think.

New class layouts

Here's a sneak peak of some of my upcoming classes at Greenbank Scrapbook Shop.

So busy!

Sorry I haven't posted for so long, I've been so busy, working, teaching, running the kids around, preparing layouts and cards for classes, and I've taken up dancing (ROFLMAO). Only because I think I need to get fit and it IS heaps of fun and lots of laughs.... mostly because I'm so unco-ordinated when we have to do the choreo fast. And of course when my friend Gigelle is behind me pissing herself laughing, it doesn't help at all!
This layout was created with one of those sheets of cardstock that you get in a pack, and you say ..."I'll never use that colour". So here it is after I a) Masked and GlimmerMisted it, b) Stamped and heat embossed, c) Used impasto, Pearl-Ex, and Perfect Pearl to create depth.

In case your interested, I made my butterflies using Fantasy Film. This is a fabulous and fun product which gives an amazing look to you cards/layouts. It changes colour when it is heated and is very easy to use. All I did was iron it between two sheets of baking paper for about 10 seconds on a medium heat. I then stampped my butterflies using Stazon ink, cut out and adhered them using double-sided tape. So easy. Let me know what you think.
